Colheita ports are single-harvest wines aged in barrel for a minimum of seven years, though Kopke’s Colheitas always age for at least a decade. It is a brilliant example of exuberance and elegance in one. Oxidative barrel-ageing gives this a lighter tawny colour and notes of nutty, sweet, dried fruits. The palate is unctuousness yet refined, with well-integrated tannins, and a delicious, enduring finish. Serve chilled alongside an apple and caramel tarte tatin.
