Established in 1820, Distillerie Busnel is one of the oldest and finest Calvados producers in the appellation Calvados du Pays d’Auge, located in Normandy, France. With over 200 years of expertise, Busnel is renowned for crafting exceptionally rich and refined apple brandies, upholding a tradition of excellence in Calvados production. These fine French oak barrels previously held AOC Busnel 12-Year-Old Prestige Reserve, a luxurious, aged apple brandy, for 12 years before being shipped to Annan. The French oak influence lends a delicate warmth of nutmeg and cinnamon, enhancing the baked apple character of the Calvados. We anticipate that these barrel staves will impart deep and complex flavors to Annandale’s spirit, introducing notes of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a refined astringency. These elements will beautifully complement Annandale Distillery’s orchard fruit character, resulting in a layered and sophisticated single malt. Calvados casks offer a unique maturation journey, where the interplay of apple brandy, French oak, and Annandale’s spirit creates a whisky with fruity richness, warming spice, and remarkable depth, making it an exciting and distinguished choice for maturation.
