Greek Virgin Oak

The evergreen Greek, Quercus ilex also known as Truffle Oak (Holm Oak), thrives in Mediterranean landscapes – from riverbanks and rocky gorges to high mountain slopes – and brings a new dimension to whisky maturation. With this exceptionally rare cask type, we take Scotch whisky into new territory: this will be among the first to be fully matured in virgin Truffle Oak. The few casks we have sourced are from the Amfilochia region of Greece and contain naturally high levels of tannin, promising bold and spicy notes. This will be balanced by the sweet orchard-fruit character of our New Make Spirit.
