This has been made even more attractive by the addition of some extra old-vine Merlot to give it a bit more of the succulence and juiciness for which it is renowned, while still retaining its classic balance and style. ‘Claret’, is a catch-all term for red Bordeaux, but its literal translation means ‘clear’ because lighter styles of red Bordeaux were historically almost rosé in colour. This lovely claret from Tanners is definitely a red wine but it is tender and juicy, too, unlike many of the blockbuster styles we see today. Drink it with the hearty Beef curry!
