SPONTANEOUSLY FERMENTED SCOTCH ALE Old Heavy is a blend of strong red and brown beers produced in May and August 2022. Both worts were made using traditional turbid mash techniques with dark roasted and crystal malts, before boiling with large quantities of aged hops to preserve the beers over their long slow fermentations. The red beer fermented in an old red Burgundy barrel, imparting fruit and spice. The brown beer fermented in an old Islay whisky barrel, giving a touch of maritime peat smoke
