American oak ex-bourbon casks come first, building spicy sweetness and warm vanilla. Then Oloroso sherry butts take over, lending depth, colour and dried fruit. All of it resting in the darkened calm of our Wick warehouse – cool, humid, patient – for twenty-five years on Scotland’s far north coast. The result is Old Pulteney at its most considered: complex without performance, rare without ceremony.
