The nose has aromas of vanilla-sweetened baked apples and pears developing into deeper dark fruit flavours, gently balanced with ginger and cinnamon for a sweet and spicy finish, all packed into a uniquely generous but elegant 1 litre whisky offering. Charles Maclean’s Tasting Notes: Amber in colour, with khaki lights. The first impression on the nose is of fruit loaf, with traces of cooking spice and after a while a fugitive hint of white chocolate on a faintly mineralic base. Unreduced, the taste is sweet and surprisingly salty, with a lightly spicy, medium-length finish. A drop of water introduces fruity notes (orange peel, baked pear) and suggestion of pastry (apple pie?). The texture is now smooth and sweet; the spiciness increases (white pepper, ginger?) and the finish is longer.
