About

Breaky Bottom is a legendary English wine estate hidden in a dry chalk valley of the South Downs near Rodmell, East Sussex, first planted in 1974 by the late Peter Hall, who died in 2025 aged 82. Hall was described as the greatest English winemaker of his generation, championing the Seyval Blanc grape and producing traditional method sparkling wines of extraordinary quality — served at Michelin-starred restaurants, chosen by royalty, and winning gold at the International Wine Challenge — each cuvee named after a friend or poet who shaped his remarkable life.
